Pop culture is culture enjoyed by young people. It includes game, music, television, and so on.
I want to talk about fashion.
Current teenage fashion Is defined as "kawaii-worthy" fashion.
The term "kawaii" represents not only cute, but also groovy, styling, and awesome.
The fashion showcase event Tokyo Girls Collection is very popular event among young women. This even is open for buyers, media, and general public.
This even was broadcasted for NikoNiko online live. (ニコニコ動画)
Also, clothes in Tokyo Girls Collection was used for avatars for Gree.
Young women can enjoy choosing clothes with their avatar, and this can promote them to consume the products.
Good point on Japanese pop culture! It's definitely been all about "kawaii" for a while...and when I go out with friends, they always demonstrate the diversity of the word, using it on men, clothes, hair, and things that aren't even cute, by American terms I mean.
返信削除I wonder in how many generations that expression would become obsolete in Japan....
It seems to me that this "kawaii-worthy" fashion you talk about is an example of an aspect of Japanese pop-culture that has caught on and been an influence in other parts of the world. I think that for our purposes in this class this is something we want to look at.

As for Gree, I heard about this last semester. I've not used it. Are you active in Gree? I do recall reading that the man behind Gree, Yoshikazu Tanaka, is being viewed around the world as a game changer.
